Fraud or abuse

If you suspect that someone has your DigiD login credentials or if your phone with the DigiD app has been stolen, please take immediate action.

Someone can use your login credentials to change your bank account number with the Tax and Customs Administration or to view personal data in MijnOverheid. This can have unpleasant consequences for you and should be prevented quickly.

Dangerous situations

  • Someone else has your DigiD login credentials.
  • Malware (virus) on your device.
  • DigiD details entered on a fake website (phishing).

Did you for example click on a link in a fake email or text message or did you scan a QR code and entered your DigiD login credentials? Take the steps below and contact the Fraud Help Desk.

Did you enter your bank details? Please contact your bank.

Phone with DigiD app has been stolen

Has your phone with the DigiD app been stolen? Deactivate the DigiD app on the stolen device. Sign in to My DigiD and select ‘Deactivate this DigiD app’. Then safely install the app on your new phone or tablet.

Can you no longer sign in to My DigiD? Contact the DigiD Helpdesk.

Has there actually been any fraud?

Then it is important that you report this: Report any case of fraud to the police. Try to gather as much evidence as possible for the report. If you are the victim of identity fraud, please report this to the Central Identity Theft and Error Reporting Centre (CMI). The CMI provides support and advice on what to do if you are a victim of identity fraud.
