SMS verification

Log in securely in 2 steps through an SMS code, with or without a mobile phone. This helps you to protect your personal data even better.

Many organisations will (soon) no longer allow you to log in with only your username and password. You always need your phone for SMS verification. Therefore, add your mobile or landline number to your DigiD account and activate logging in with SMS verification. You can link one phone number to a maximum of 5 different DigiD accounts.

What do I need?

  • mobile phone or tablet with a SIM card (06 xxxxx)
  • Dutch landline number (070 xxxxx)
  • or foreign telephone number (+<landcode><number> or 00<landcode><number>).

How does it work?

Log in with your DigiD username and password. You will then receive an SMS with the code on your phone. You enter this code. If you only have a Dutch landline number, you may receive a spoken text message code. You will be called automatically.
