IT supplier Solvinity in the news: what does this mean for DigiD?

Logging in with DigiD must always be safe and reliable. Logius understands that this acquisition raises questions. That is why an extensive investigation is being carried out into any potential consequences for service delivery, security, and privacy of DigiD. Logius will take action where necessary.

DigiD takes every measure to keep your data safe. With DigiD, you log into government organisations and organisations with a public task. DigiD provides secure access to these organizations. DigiD only shares your BSN (citizen service number) during login. This BSN cannot be accessed by a supplier such as Solvinity. Information such as income or medical records is managed by the organizations you log in to.

DigiD is managed by the Dutch government organisation Logius, part of the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations. The platform that DigiD runs on is provided by Solvinity and is hosted in a government data center. This makes Solvinity a supplier to DigiD, not the owner. The government determines how DigiD works and how it is secured. Suppliers such as Solvinity have no authority over DigiD.
