Activate SMS verification or DigiD app

More and more organizations only allow you to log in with SMS verification or the DigiD app. This means that from now on you will always need your (mobile) phone while logging in. This way your personal data is better protected. So activate the DigiD app or SMS verification today. Below you can read how you can do that.

Activate SMS verification

You can activate SMS verification in My DigiD. From then, you can log in with an SMS code. Don't have a mobile phone? Then you can opt for a spoken text message. You will then receive it on your landline. Please go to the link below for more information and instructions.

Logging in with SMS verification

While logging in, first enter your username and password. You will then receive an SMS code on your mobile phone or landline. You must also enter this code on the website. Then you will be logged in succesfully.

What do I need for SMS verification?

  • DigiD username and password

  • Mobile phone or landline

What do I need for the DigiD app?

  • Internet

  • DigiD app: download the app via Google Play or the App Store

  • DigiD account

  • Smartphone or tablet with operating system Android (version 7.0 or higher) or with operating system iOS (version 12 or higher)

  • A valid Dutch passport; driving license (after 14 november 2014); or identity card
